Opening A Bottle of water

Having AMC (Arthrogryposis) can make opening a bottle of water extremely difficult or even impossible.  While speaking with Chloe about our difficulties, we found out that both of us use the same brand of water (Buxton still water).  We prefer this as the mouthpiece is longer and the fact it’s a flip lid rather than a screw lid.  Something we both find impossible to open, even with all the accessories out there that can aid in this task.

Talking about our difficulties, Chloe explained to me how she opened her bottles.  I was amazed at how simple this solution actually was and even more surprised it worked for me too.

The idea is (and only works with flip-lid bottles) that you place the bottle lid against the edge of a table/desk or countertop and pull the bottle in a downward motion.  The edge of whatever you decide to use should have a sharp edge to it to aid in flipping the lid open.

I haven’t tried this myself (yet) but I imagine you could do this against a hard armrest or maybe even your swing-away joystick bar on your wheelchair. Making this achievable no matter where you are!

Watch the video below and we hope this helps you too.  Oh by the way, my little furry friend seemed to be rather interested in what I was doing, I think she thought it was food.

Amazon sometimes do a good deal on Buxton still water:
Buxton Still Natural Mineral Water 75cl Sports Cap Single (Pack of 15 x 75cl)
